Meet the Therapist

Kathy Clark is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to achieving. She works with individuals, couples and families. Her private counseling practice is located in Solana Beach, California.

She interned as a counselor in the Health Services Department at MiraCosta College for three years, where she worked with students on both the Oceanside and San Elijo Campuses. While there she provided in-house training for instructors on "Recognizing the Symptoms of Mental Illness in Students." She also developed and co-facilitated a weekly support group for women survivors of domestic violence.

For three years, she did pro-bono work at a North County domestic violence shelter. While there, she provided personal and group counseling to men, women and children to help them rebuild their lives as they recovered from the effects of abusive relationships.

Education
Kathy Clark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University at Los Angeles. She has a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University.

License
A California-licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, her license number is MFC 47115.

Certification
She is a Certified Telemental Health Provider.

Additional Training
To complement her education, she has completed the following additional training:

  • Transforming Trauma With EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Expressive Arts Therapy 100-Hour Training Intensive
  • Meditation, Consciousness and the Brain
  • 40-Hour Domestic Violence/Crisis Intervention Training
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level 1 Training
  • Intensive training for interpreting dreams and developing intuition

Professional Activities and Memberships
Kathy Clark is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and served as past president of CAMFT's San Diego North County Chapter.
